Alebrijes a Peace Symbol

Alebrijes can represent peace.  Peace generates respect, inclusion and acceptance.

Our stories.

 Peace

In a very strange school, the first week of classes the art teacher teach to the Kids Mayan Glifos; with sand they made the shape of the Glifo. 2 months later with a balloon, paste and paper, they make a skull they cover the balloon with paper and paste. Then they paint their skull. 1 month later they learn about alebrijes, first they make it with paper, then they did with recycled material and cover it with paper and paste. In that month they learned about the Zapotec symbols.1 month ago they learned about music, foami, origami, watercolor and felt. In the same month an artisan from Oaxaca go to the school and show the children how to carve an alebrije, now they cover the alebrije with enamel. In 1 month Canadian kids are going to go to the school, in that day's the artisan from Oaxaca is going to go again but now to paint the alebrije.

  2. Peace

What's up on a time there was this girl who wanted to make peace, do you started by searching about glifos, that have the propose of giving peace. Then they research about signs that represent Love, respect, Sun and protection. Then they recycle garbage for making Alebrijes, that have the propose of giving peace, they also have stories and powers. Then they had a conference with Jacobo who is a Mexican artist that makes Alebrijes with wood. Then had a class with Jacobo who travel from Oaxaca to their school, he told them how to sculpt an Alebrije with foam.

The legend tells that if try to make peace this story will continue.

  3. Generating Peace

2 boys, in the first class of art, saw the maya symbols, they investigated about the maya symbols and when they finished the investigation, they made a resume about that.
the boys learn something beautiful in those day: all have an action and a reaction.
2 weeks later, they saw about the alebrijes, they saw how they look and how symbols are. The symbols were different, because those symbols aren't the maya symbols, the symbols are the Zapoteca symbols, and all the Zapoteca symbols are used to make the alebrijes.
the boys learn something beautiful : everything have a meaning.
About 3 weeks later, the boys met a person via Skype that makes alebrijes in Guadalajara. Those person show us how he made their alebrijes.
The boys learn that everything have a culture and we have to respect those culture.
3 weeks later, the two boys met in live to the person, and the person show them how to make an sculpture, and the boys choose to make an owl.
The boys learn those day that they aren't perfect, and that they, if they want, they can do something beautiful.

When they finished the year, they learn that they can create peace.
