ANIMALS IN DIFFERENT BIOMES
RAIN FOREST ANIMAL🌴
CHAMELEON
In the world, there are more than fifty kinds of chameleons. Almost half of all the species live in Madagascar, which means they live in a Rain Forest. Dwarf chameleons are the smallest in the world and can be the size of a baby's thumb and sometimes as big as a cat! Can you believe it!
Have you ever seen a chameleon's humongous tongue? Well, they sometimes curl their large tongue to grab themselves from trees and eat their prey! Chameleons that live in trees have five toes and they can look two different directions at the same time. These crazy animals communicate by changing he colors of their skin!.
DESERT ANIMAL🌵
SCORPION
Most scorpion stings are not considered life threatening to humans -- the exception is the sting of the bark scorpion, the most venomous in the United States. Most of the scorpions in the U.S. are found in the southwest, preferring the warm, dry climates found in Arizona, California and New Mexico.
Scorpions have a chitinous exoskeleton and a segmented body with four pairs of jointed legs, putting them in the phylum Arthropoda and the class Arachnida. They share their class with spiders, mites, ticks and harvestmen. The order Scorpiones numbers over 1,500 species, with over 70 species in the United States alone.
The scorpion's body is composed of the prosoma, containing the carapace, chelicera and pedipalps; the central body part, called the mesosoma, containing the adbominal segments (tergites) where its legs are attached; and the metasoma, the segmented erectile tail. The scorpion's tail culminates in the telson, where the stinger is located. Scorpions are predatory, using their venom to subdue their prey and for defense.
